   A barcode is assigned to every BlackBerry. It is unique and cannot be changed. When the barcode is scanned from another persons BlackBerry, it will add them to your BlackBerry Messenger list. This is an optional way of adding people instead of typing in their PIN.

   Make sure to read the post first… It is not going to work with any OS lower than 4.5.0.131, .52 and .77 are lower than .131. Read this to downgrade: http://forums.crackberry.com/f86/how-can-i-downgrade-old-bbm-271634/

   So there isnt just a link that you can click on for the OLD 4.5/4.7 BBM like there is for the new 5.0???

   Nothing easy as that??! Who wants to go through all that other long, drawn out process with DM’s, and hooking this and that up to computers for 45 mintues just to get the OLD BBM back?! Please help! I hate this new 5.0 and want my 4.5 back! (Blackberry Curve 8330)

   Call me stupid with a v. basic questpon but I’ve had my blackberry pearl almost 2 weeks now so I’m not that experiewnced with it yet… How do I install it onto my phone after downloading it to my PC? Should I download it from the web browser on my Blackberry?

    Hannah, go to the URL that is specific to 4.5 on your BlackBerry Browser.

    However, if you have 4.5.0.131 or lower do not do this..

    I have the 8900 curve and I continuously tried installing this update from numerous resources. It loads 60-80 percent of the way and then fails with a 907 error stating it cannot import zip file. Why does this constantly occur?

    i have a curve 8330 v4.5.0.77.. i dl the new bbm and just like everyone said after rebooting my bbm was gone.. showed up in my application list but no where to be found on my screen.. the new version of bbm is not compatible with 4.5.0.77 or later… to get your old version back .. do a back up first of course and always.. go to your applications list (options>advanced options>applications) delete Blackberry messenger…assuming you all use desktop manager..connect your bberry and then go to application loader> add/remove applictions.. scroll down until you see blackberry messenger, check the box and click next.. it will re install the old version of bbm back on to your phone..(sadly you have to add your contacts back but at least you will have a working BBM again!)

    I have a curve 8900 and I tried downloading the 5.0 over and over and it keeps stopping at about 60-70% saying error message 907 COD saying it can’t import zip file can someone please help me out.Thanks in advance

    Ok so i’ve tried this and at a few other places, i have a blackberry bold 9000 and no matter what i do, after i try to open the .alx file in application loader it was that its not compatible with my device…why?

    To those getting the COD 907 message…I got the same because I saved the file directly in memory…to fix it you have to download it directly from the link from your phone’s browser.

    The icon dissapearing issue will fix itself once you do a full re-boot (take battery out).

    Again, the reason it is disappearing is because you did not read the directions. You can not upgrade if you have a OS lower than 4.5.0.131. That being said, you can find out how to downgrade by going to this link: http://forums.crackberry.com/f86/how-can-i-downgrade-old-bbm-271634/.

    I am not sure how much more clear I can be than putting it in Bold in the post, and posting it the the comments a bunch of times…

    my friend has an 8330 and im telling her to download the first one and she arguing with me telling me no i wasnt the 8900 cuz she has a curve im telling he not todo it so now she downloaded the 8900 and now she doesnt find her bbm im being blame for it i realy dont know what to tell her
