Download the new BlackBerry Messenger 5.0 OTA

Last month we told you about the new BlackBerry Messenger coming with OS 5.0. Yesterday links to the BlackBerry Messenger client leaked on the Internet for all recent BlackBerry devices, but people kept asking for OTA links. So our dude, 0mie over at 0mieTechSupport, made the downloads over the air and hooked it up! We decided to host them here as well, so feel free to visit our links from your BlackBerry Browser and it should prompt you to download it.

Please remember that this BlackBerry Messenger version is in beta and may still be buggy. We STRONGLY encourage you to backup your BlackBerry before upgrading. We can not be liable for any damages it may cause.

EDIT: DO NOT UPDATE IF YOU HAVE ANY OS LOWER THAN 4.5.0.131!

EDIT2: If you have any problems with this you must leave a comment with what BlackBerry you are using, and the OS you are running.

EDIT3: RIM seems to have enabled the Avatar feature today. If you still have trouble getting your Avatar seen, please attempt to re-upload your Avatar and/or restart your device.

Everything was great… But Messages don’t get delivered. I only get the usual “tick” and no D. My contacts are obviously not receiving my messages.

Any solution?

I have the correct OS running and BBM 5.0 seemed to work fine.

ok so i downloaded successfully after so many failed attempts and losing my BBM app ….I have a curve 8900! At first my old app disappeared but people were still messaging me so i knew it was there somewhere i just couldnt access it through IM ap it was showing new messages in my email app.So i got link again and downloaded it took a few failed downloads before i finally got it.After phone rebooted it was installed in my phone and its great !!!I know alot of people trying and its failing on first few attempts but it does work!

This application should have been far more stable before you posted it, I’ve had so many people complaining about it to me that it removed their blackberry messenger. Thank god I never downloaded it for my curve.

We have had over 1 million downloads and only people who have downloaded it with an OS 4.5.0.131 or lower have had problems. I have posted it in the main post and throughout the comments. I am not sure how much clearer I can get dude.

I think the confusuin here is that we are looking at the version as decimals and not full numbers.
So (4.5.0.131 is less than 4.5.0.52 and 4.5.0.77)
where if we looked at the vesrion as a decimal number, (.131 is smaller than .77)

I downloaded the new 5.0 onto my Curve 8900, everything went great except now I have the new BBM and my profile photo wont work. Any suggestions? I can see other friends photos but they cant see mine even though I went into edit info and uploaded a pic from my pictures.

I was looking how to download the new messenger, but my OS is older. I just wanted to comment because people are funny. A couple of guys have said numerous times:

**PLEASE DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS SOFTWARE UNLESS YOU HAVE 4.5.0.131 AND ABOVE!**

Just keep on choosing YES while downloading the new BBM, and be sure that ur contacts will not be deleted =)

I downloaded it and it works fine BUT there’s nothing that let’s me display “On the Phone” when I’m on a call!!!! Can someone help? It shows when I’m listening to a song but not when I’m on the phone. Heeelllpppp. Where is the option for that? I’m on an 8900. 🙂 thanks!

It didnt work for me.. and now its BBM app is completely gone from my phone!

i have verizon, and i have the blackberry curve 8330 the os system that i had before the download was bbm 4.5.0

I have tried everything i deleted the file from my phone and tried to reload the old verison from blackberry.com/messenger but it says that my phone doesnt support it.. HELP! i need contact with my pin heads..hahaha

AAAAH ,i have the blackberry curve 8330 and i dont know if maybe somehow i have to log in or create an account somewhere.. but whenever i click on the link for the bbm it says “error on webpage, you must log into enter”.. HOW DO I LOG IN?! im suffering without the new bbm =(

I have a BB BOLD V.4.6. I heard about the new BB messenger through a friend and he fwd the link to me through the BB chat. I clicked on the link that took me to this page and then I proceed to hit the download link for the Bold. After it started to download, less than 30% into the download I canceled it, because I forgot to do a backup and thought that I would loose all my contacts if I didn’t.

So after I did the back up and tried to download it kept giving me error msgs. So then I rebooted my phone (turned it off, removed battery and turned it back on), and now when I come to this page and press on the link, I can’t even get pass this page and get to the download section, because it says:

“HTTP Error 403: Forbidden,You are not authorize to view this page. Please try loading a different page.”

Any suggestions??

I have the Tour. When I click on the link I get the following:

2 bugs #1 I tried to write a long message and it come up “field full!” #2 the pictures disapre after a day or two!
Please let me know if it only happens two me or its a bug by everyone.

I have a BB curve 8900 and its OS is 4.6.0, and when I linked tu upgrade the version said that I have not permission to access to this page.. :s I’m not sure, because I’m new in this.. I think it was because of the diference between the OS required and mine.. Is that possible? What can I do? Thaks for your help!
