Ovi was first release in 2008 as a brand within Nokia representing its internet services. On Monday, Nokia announced it would be changing the Ovi services brand to Nokia services. This rebranding strategy will begin in July and August on new Nokia devices and will continue into 2012. Jerri DeVard, Nokia’s EVP and Chief Marketing Officer, explains:
“We have made the decision to change our service branding from Ovi to Nokia. By centralizing our services identity under one brand, not two, we will reinforce the powerful master brand of Nokia and unify our brand architecture – while continuing to deliver compelling opportunities and experiences for partners and consumers alike.”
