Verizon will soon be adding location warning stickers to all of its phones. The warning reads, “This device is capable of determining its (and your) physical, geographical location and can associate this location data with other customer information. To limit access to location information by others, refer to the User Guide for Location settings and be cautious when downloading, accessing or using applications and services.”
This comes after Apple’s issue with tracking user’s location via their iPhone. The letter explaining Verizon’s changes to be more transparent to its customers was sent to Representatives Ed Markey and Joe Barton, both who sent letters to Verizon inquiring about their practices tracking user’s location.
