Sprint launching tiered data plans on embedded devices and hotspots

Do you remember just a few months ago when Dan Hesse, CEO of Sprint, got on camera and explained that he understands what unlimited is? He may have underestimated how much data was going to used because on May 8, Sprint will be launching tiered data on embedded devices like tablets and hotspots.

There are three new “customized connection price plans” for embedded devices. The plans are will be offered at a discounted rate until October 29:

  • 3GB of data for $34.99 (regularly $44.99) – Available on the 3G/4G Sierra Pro Overdrive, Novatel 3G/4G MiFi, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
  • 5GB of data for $49.99 (regularly $59.99) – Available on connection cards, USB, netbook/notebook, Samsung Galaxy Tab, and mobile hotspots including the Sierra Pro Overdrive, Novatel 3G/4G MiFi.
  • 10GB of data for only $79.99 (regularly $89.99) – Available on connection cards, USB, netbook/notebook, Samsung Galaxy Tab, and mobile hotspots including the Sierra Pro Overdrive, Novatel 3G/4G MiFi.

On a positive note, Sprint is offering everyone on the “Everything Data 450” plan a bonus 300 anytime minutes.
