FORT WORTH, Texas, July 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — RadioShack Corporation (NYSE: RSH) today announced that as part of its ongoing strategy to increase its authority and share in mobility and connectivity, it has added T-Mobile Wireless to its assortment of post paid carriers in more than 4000 stores.
“Our mobility strategy is rooted in customer advocacy, and allows us to offer the best solution for consumers’ needs across multiple carriers, plans, phones and accessories,” said Julian Day, RadioShack’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. He added, “RadioShack has a tremendous legacy of innovation, and in a highly mobile world, keeping our customers seamlessly connected to one another is a commitment we are very focused on delivering.”
Today, approximately 30 percent of RadioShack’s annual sales are generated by its wireless platform. The Company’s drive to increase its assortment of carriers responds to three important trends.
- The need to stay connected is the greatest it has ever been as a majority of U.S. consumers enjoy the mobility of wireless technology.
- Consumers want choice and rely heavily on retail stores and knowledgeable sales associates when making decisions about wireless handsets and service plans. Retailers must be able to offer unbiased solutions in order to be truly customer-focused.
- The recent increasing functionality of handsets has dramatically raised consumers’ expectations for greater selections of innovative and adaptable mobile devices.
T-Mobile, a national provider of wireless voice, messaging and data services capable of reaching over 268 million Americans, will be joining RadioShack effective August 19, 2009. In addition, the recently announced T-Mobile(R) myTouch(TM) 3G, the highly anticipated follow-up to the T-Mobile G1(TM), the world’s first Android(TM) powered device, is anticipated to be in RadioShack stores on August 19, 2009.
“We are excited to partner with T-Mobile and to provide our customers with an expanded assortment of innovative products and wireless plans that deliver quality and value,” Day said.
