Best Buy announced that it would start allowing customers to pre-order the Motorola DROID. The phone will then be available in stores beginning November 6. Pre-ordering the phone will allow customers to not worry about the phone selling out. Another advantage to purchasing the phone at Best Buy is that they get rid of the mail-in rebate for you, charging you only $199.99 at the point of sale. When buying at the Verizon store, customers will pay $299.99 and get a $100 mail-in rebate.

A Best Buy tipster sent in some pictures of their inventory system showing an item labeled “Project Charlie”. There are three different models of this unknown device. The reason that this is so concerning is because every other phone in the AT&T Mobility section is labeled by manufacturer and and model. This has started many rumors on the blogs, but the most convincing one being that this is the new iPhone which is expected to be announced in June.

Hints have been dropping recently about when the Sprint Treo Pro would be available for purchase. We have previously heard that the phone would be delayed until February 15th, but BestBuy.com seems to be saying otherwise. Starting today it available for purchase (but backordered) for a mere $699. It also seems that many Best Buy stores have received the phone when checking store pick-up. However, the chances of getting it a Best Buy before February 15th are slim unless you get someone from outside the Best Buy Mobile department.
