Skype being sold to Microsoft for 7 billion dollars? (Updated)

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Microsoft has tossed its name into the hat, along with Facebook and Google, to purchase the VoIP company Skype.  At 7 billion dollars, Microsoft might be looking to further develop their Windows Phone platform.  The latest news says that they are close to closing the deal.  Expect to see more information about this sale by the end of the week.

UPDATE: The WSJ has confirmed that the deal will be announced tomorrow morning.

    Well we are screwed if microsoft gets it cus all they will do is charge us for the operating system and make sure its half backed software that means you have nothing but problems. God help us
