iPhone 4 Otterbox Commuter

Otterbox has always been trusted as a case that will protect your phone from anything, as Andrew proved in this video. Naturally, we wanted to try out an Otterbox case on our iPhone 4 since the glass can shatter so easy with one drop. So we got our hands on the iPhone 4 Commuter series case, which is a bit slimmer than the Defender series cases.

The case has a durable silicon skin that is applied first. Then there is a polycarbonate outer shell that attaches over the silicon skin. Put together, these two pieces provide great protection over the iPhone without making it too bulky. Additionally, the  case will come with a self-adhering clear screen protector to stop the actual screen from getting scratched up.

Our first impression was how thin the case was compared to previous Otterbox cases we had seen. Its slimness does not stop the phone from being protected from drops and accidents with the silicon skin and the polycarbonate outer shell. We’ve been using this case for a while now and have found its size to be just right. It fits perfectly in our pocket and is not too big in our hands.

There is a piece of silicon that will go into the headphone jack and the dock connector to protect it from water damage or lint. The only areas left uncovered are the Apple logo on the back of the phone, the vibrate/ring toggle, the camera and flash, and the speakers.

The Commuter case for the iPhone 4 comes in a wide variety of colors to satisfy everyones needs and only costs $34.95. We think that this price is fair for the added protection the Otterbox provides. If you are looking for a case that won’t make your iPhone 4 too bulky and want great protection, we can strongly recommend the Commuter series case from Otterbox.
