YouMail, a state-of-the-art mobile voicemail service, has released an update to its iOS app. The application now allows YouMail users to utilize in-app greetings where you can browse through tens of thousands of user-provided greetings. You can then choose any of these greetings for  when you get calls from certain people. Alex Quilici, YouMail’s CEO, sat down with us at BlackBerry World and showed us how you can “RickRoll” your friends, while providing a professional greeting to your business clients.

Another feature that has been added to YouMail’s iPhone app is Number Search. When you get a message from a number you don’t recognize, you can now perform a Google mobile search and get more information on the caller’s phone number. You can then block this number from leaving you messages if needed.

Alex Quilici explains: “YouMail has always had a very rich web-based experience for computer users… We’re now focused on making that mobile and bringing it into the YouMail app itself.” Hit the jump for the full press release.

YouMail’s New iPhone Update Delivers Greetings and Number Search

iOS Users Can Now Easily Access Thousands of YouMail Community Greetings on Their Devices

IRVINE, CA–(Marketwire – May 23, 2011) – YouMail, Inc. (www.youmail.com) — a leading provider of cloud-based communications apps and services for smart phones — today announced its latest update to the iOS Visual Voicemail Plus application for iPhones, iPads, and iPods Touch.

The updates significantly extend the YouMail iPhone user experience to make it both more fun and more useful:

  • In-App Community Greetings. Users can now easily browse, search, and add to YouMail’s growing set of tens of thousands of user-provided greetings all from within the comfort of the app itself. It’s now just a few taps for them to find the perfect professionally recorded greeting or to “RickRoll” their friends.
  • Number Search. YouMail has baked Google mobile search into the app itself, so that with one tap, you can find out exactly who is leaving you messages, and whether or not they should be blocked forever. The YouMail user need only tap the new magnifying glass on the voicemail playing page to search for more info on the caller’s phone number.

In addition, iOS users who aren’t YouMail users can point their iPhone to http://greetings.youmail.com to explore the YouMail greeting community.
